Common Questions

Habit is not yet available to people who are pregnant, lactating, or diabetic. Additionally, you must be 18 years or older to purchase.

Habit is available in U.S. states except for New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. At this time we are not shipping kits outside the U.S. However, we're working on creating more programs for more customers. Join our email list and we'll contact you as soon as we have services available for you.

Depending on your location, your kit will be delivered within 10 business days. Once your kit is shipped, you'll receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. If you don't receive the email, please check your spam or promotions folder.

After you mail your samples, please allow up to 4–6 weeks to receive your results and personalized nutrition plan.

Contact your insurance provider to discuss coverage. At-homes tests, like the one included in the Habit kit, are not typically covered by insurance. They may, however, be paid for with an HSA or FSA account. See Can I use my HSA or FSA account to pay for a test?

It may be possible to pay for a Habit kit with your health savings account (HSA) or health flexible spending account (FSA). Check your plan for coverage as individual plans will vary.

In discussing plan coverage, you can tell your provider that the test is taken at home with blood and saliva samples and analyzed by our third-party CLIA/CAP accredited partner lab. The lab measures and analyzes the following:

Blood Sample:

  • Post-meal glucose – 30 and 120 minutes
  • Fasting glucose
  • C-peptide – 30 and 120 minutes
  • Fasting triglycerides
  • Post-meal triglycerides – 30 and 120 minutes
  • Total Cholesterol
  • LDL cholesterol
  • HDL cholesterol

Saliva sample:

  • Caffeine sensitivity gene variant
  • Lactose intolerance gene variants
  • Cholesterol balance gene variants
  • Blood sugar management gene variants
  • Triglyceride balance gene variants
  • Weight gain gene variants
  • Gene variants related to blood pressure
  • Gene variants related to omega-3 fatty acid production
  • Gene variants related to vitamin D levels
  • Gene variant related to folate metabolism

If you have results from AncestryDNA or 23andMe, you can import your genetic data instead of completing another DNA test. Learn more about Habit Core with DNA Import here.

If you're not an AncestryDNA or 23andMe customer but would like to use your own data, please stay in touch. We're working toward different options for people who already have their nutrition-related blood and genetic data.

Please note that an essential part of the test is drinking The Habit Challenge® Shake, which is unique to Habit. The shake is used to understand how your body responds to carbs, fats, and protein. Learn more about The Habit Challenge® Shake here.
